As Wisconsin legislators begin the process of planning the state budget for the next biennium, WI-AIMH wants to remind them to remember to support infant and early childhood mental health. We believe that by investing in infant and early childhood mental health, it is possible to change the trajectory of a child’s life to reduce the need for treatment later in life, to grow healthier and happier families and communities, and to save time and money in the long-run. Early mental health provides a foundation on which children can begin building the skills they need to become contributing members of a successful community and a thriving Wisconsin. We believe it is essential that legislators dedicate specific funds in the state budget for infant and early childhood mental health.
You can help us be the voice of Wisconsin babies!
Ways to get involved:
Contact your Representatives. Call, e-mail or write your representative, the Assembly Committee on Mental Health, and the Joint Committee on Finance. Ask them to dedicate specific funds in the state budget for infant and early childhood mental health.
Download or print our Legislative One-Pager. This can be easily printed and mailed, or attached to an e-mail.
General comments about the state budget can be emailed to BudgetComments@legis.wisconsin.gov.
One example of a brief message: As Wisconsin legislators plan the 2017-19 State Budget, I ask that you please remember to invest into infant/early childhood mental health. Support Pyramid Model and Infant/Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation.

Below are two Talking Points quicksheets available for download:
Talking Points for residents who want to advocate for infants, young children, and families.
Talking Points for professionals working in the Infant/Early Childhood Mental Health Field.
Spread the word. Share this information with friends and family who may also be interested in advocating for Wisconsin babies.
Thank you for your commitment to infants, young children, and their families!
